What is micro-cap stock?
In US, when a share in a publicly traded company trades for less than $5.00, it is referred to as micro-cap equity. These stocks are usually traded on smaller exchanges such as Pink sheet or Over-the-Counter Bulletin Board. Many of these micro-cap companies are great startup companies with innovative ideas and aggressive expansion plans; however, due to the lack of coverage from major financial newscasters and analysts, they are usually not actively traded.
Why micro-cap stocks?
The biggest advantage of trading micro-cap stocks is that their price is much more volatile. A large-cap stock, such as GOOGLE (GOOG), will rarely have price fluctuation of more than 5% on a normal trading day. On the contrary, micro-cap stocks offer a much greater opportunity for large intra-day gain. Please refer to the charts below comparing a large-cap stock with a micro-cap stock we shortlisted previously.
We have APTD and GOOG on our watch list.
We will first start off with ALPHATRADE.COM (APTD.OB)
The Price was up from 0.0047 per share to 0.0068 per share. There was a TOTAL GAIN of 44% in LESS THAN 6 HOURS !
While GOOG only has 1.25% gain in Profit:
Besides the short-term price fluctuation, micro-cap stocks, during their lower share price, are also much easier to start trading with a smaller initial investment.
In the example above, an investment of $1,000 in GOOG would get you a profit of $12.49 while the same amount in APTD would get you a profit of $446.80!!
How to trade micro-cap stocks?
First and foremost, we never recommend our members to plan long-term investment in micro-cap stocks. We recommend our members to allocate full attention to their investment in micro-cap stocks and to aim for a more conservative gain until you grasp the dynamic of micro-cap trading.
Although our picks have proven track record of huge gains, we will not guarantee any big gain.
